2023 PhotoVogue Digital Art Collection
PhotoVogue is launching its second residency program aimed at empowering artists entering Web3. The program builds on last year’s Voice x PhotoVogue NFT Residency, which brought 75 artists from around the world to present a unique collection and culminated in a digital art exhibition at the 2022 PhotoVogue Festival in Milan, Italy.
Founded on the shared commitment to champion talent and visual literacy to help foster a more just, ethical, and inclusive world, the PhotoVogue and Voice partnership brings a fresh perspective on photography in Web3. The PhotoVogue NFT program is an opportunity to amplify the storytelling power of photography, empower diverse artists globally, and nurture creativity in the digital space.
Through this year’s residency, we will provide a group of artists the opportunity to learn how to enter the space ethically and intentionally and how to experiment with this new digital medium while staying true to their artistic voices from Web3 experts.
The theme of our second residency’s collection will be issues of representation.
In a world that is dominated by how we perceive ourselves and how we fit into society in relation to others, these images become woven into the global cultural fabric and can present a narrative that is limited, distorted, and exclusionary. Even though conversations about inclusivity have been given increasing importance recently, there is always more work that can be done. Through this program, we hope to re-shape the narratives that have dominated the visual landscape by exploring and breaking down the stereotypes that confine us.
The 2023 PhotoVogue NFT Residency will comprise twenty-four artists from PhotoVogue’s community who will take part in a Web3 training program that will culminate in the successful drop of an NFT series on the Ethereum blockchain. The artists will release artworks in three curated drops on voice.com. Benefits to the artists include a $500 stipend, royalties in perpetuity, and a one-month long series of digital workshops, and access to mentors in Web3.
Additionally, the 2022 PhotoVogue NFT Residency artists will drop a new capsule collection this Spring, exploring the theme of issues of representation and curated by Alessia Glaviano. The artists are also invited to act as mentors to the new group by sharing their experiences and insights with the new artists to further strengthen and bolster our ever-growing community.
