1st Test, Kingston, Aug 12 – 16 2021, Pakistan tour of West Indies (Joshua Da Silva 20*, Jomel Warrican 1*, Mohammad Abbas 3/42) – Stumps, PAK vs WI, 1st Test, day 2, live score, 2021
Catch us for the action tomorrow, as both sides battle it out to press the advantage. Until then, it is goodnight and goodbye from us!
Here’s Brathwaite after the day’s play: “Not feeling good [after the run-out] – a misjudgment from me. Felt good [the innings]. I put in a lot of work… It just goes to show that hard work pays off. Still a lot of work to be done… “
With the pitch and the conditions in favour of movement for the pacers, a lead of even around 75 would be handy – but then, it is all about Da Silva now, who has to bat with the tail with just two wickets in hand. There is a lot of time remaining in the game though, and day three promises to be tasty.
Affan: “The only advantage Pak have is WI will be batting last so any total excess of 200 will be extremely challenging.”
Umar: “West Indies definitely won the day! 34 run lead is alott considering conditions and Pak’s flimsy batting. If the tail manages another 15-20 runs. Would be a big bigg advantage!”
West Indies’ day to be fair. They added 249 runs today, much of which was down to their captain Brathwaite and his predecessor Holder. They end the day 34 runs ahead of Pakistan, who kept testing the hosts with accuracy, and swing and seam.
5.18pm With that, the umpires decide the fading light is not good enough for play to continue, and that is stumps.
The light meter is now in place, as umpire Joel Wilson checks for visibility.
