’15 all out’: Adelaide Strikers bundle out Sydney Thunder for lowest T20 total ever | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Big Bash League on Friday witnessed its former champions Sydney Thunder bowled out for the lowest total ever in a senior T20 cricket match. The Sydney Thunder, who won the 2015-16 edition of the league, were bundled out for just 15 runs by Adelaide Strikers at Sydney Showground Stadium.
Adelaide Strikers scored 139/9 and took just 5.5 overs to bowl out their opponents to register a comprehensive 124 runs victory in the fifth match of the BBL 2022-23 edition. Sydney’s total of 15 all out broke the previous record of 21 all out by Turkey against Czech Republic in 2019.
No batters from Sydney Thunder registered a double figure with Brendan Doggett top-scoring with just 4 runs for them. Five batters were out for naught in the innings.

Pacer Henry Thornton was the wrecker-in-chief for Adelaide as he took a fifer, 5 for 3 in 2.5 overs, while Wes Agar returned figures of 4 for 6 in 2 overs. Matthew Short (1/5) took the remaining one wicket for Adelaide.
It was low-scoring game with Adelaide Strikers to managing a below par 139/9 after opting to bat first. Chris Lynn (36) and Colin de Grandhomme (33) were the principal scorers for them.
Here’s what Player of the Match, Thornton said after the match:
“Have no clue what’s going on, it’s amazing. We thought they bowled really, really well considering what the wicket was doing, but we hung in there long enough. Haven’t seen anything similar to this ever, unbelievable stuff to be honest. We just thought that if we could bowl on top of the stumps, we were clear on what we have to execute. I think we got a lot of nick-offs and Short took one of the best catches at first slip. Really happy for Wes Agar, he bowled really well. Was super disciplined, great performance by him. Pretty unique (bowling with three slips), I just couldn’t believe it. Lynn was like if you want two or three slips, it was quite amazing. To have guys like Lynn next to you, it’s amazing. To be honest I couldn’t believe it. Thought 150 would be good but turned out to be enough.”
