Olive oil is a great option for winter hair care. Its active ingredients prevent strands from getting damaged, rough and frizzy. It also adds nourishment not only to hair but also scalp. Olive oil is also one of the primary ingredients in many homemade hair masks. A quick olive oil hair mask that you can make at home – mix it with egg yolk and honey to treat split ends, frizz, and dull strands. Keep it on for 20 – 30 minutes and then rinse it off.
Although Bhringraj oil isn’t the kind that you hear about every day, it is quite popular in Ayurveda therapy as well as medical science. This oil really has the best reputation for all that it can do for our skin and especially our hair. The Vitamin E that’s in it aids in soothing dry and/or inflamed skin. The oil overall helps to treat dandruff and dry scalp, reduce hair fall, increase blood circulation, add sheen, promote hair growth, and even prevent premature greying. You can simply warm it up, apply it on your scalp and roots thoroughly and keep it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off.
Almond oil is very nourishing for extremely dry and damaged hair. It is said to be extremely nutritious, as it is rich in Vitamin E, magnesium, Omega-3 fatty acids, etc. That is why it helps to nourish and strengthen the hair, improving its texture and adding luster to the hair. Take only half-teaspoon almond oil in your palm and rub the palms lightly together, so that the oil is smeared on both palms. Then, starting at the ends, run the fingers through the hair.
Coconut oil is probably the most popular oil with which everyone is obsessed. It is said to strengthen the hair and make it thick and shiny. The application of coconut oil with a light massage helps to stimulate blood circulation to the hair follicles and also softens hair texture. Coconut oil may also be used with curry leaves to restore health to the hair. Add coconut oil to the fresh curry leaves and boil them. This should be boiled till a black residue is formed. Cool the mixture and then add the black residue to the scalp. Keep it on for an hour and then wash the hair. This may be done 2 or 3 times a week.
Sesame oil is a great choice if you have dry and lifeless locks. It is an emollient which means it smoothers out the rough ends. Whether it is blocking the sun or preventing damage from chilly winds, you can add it to your hair vanity. This oil contains useful agents like omega 3, 6 and 9. It adds a bounce and creates a voluminous texture. You can mix it with coconut oil and massage your scalp to get rid of dryness and itchiness if the issue is not physiological.
Jojoba Oil is rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish hair. It has an oily composition, so it can be used as a moisturizer. It can also be added to hair conditioners to give you added protection against dryness, breakage, and split ends. The oil can also moisturize the scalp and may be a dandruff remedy. Because it strengthens hair, it is also thought that jojoba oil can prevent hair loss and promote hair thickness. Warm the oil up beforehand so it’s easier to apply. You can do this in a clean pot on a stovetop or in a microwave-safe bowl. Use about 1 tbsp. for short hair and 2 tbsp. for longer hair. Apply to the hair above the scalp, and work down evenly to hair tips. Leave in for about 20 minutes, and then shampoo, condition, and rinse.
Castor oil has been claimed to have a slew of benefits including strengthening strands, promoting hair growth, and nourishing the dry scalp. And while the oil itself likely can’t make the hair grow, it’s loved for its ability to create a healthier environment on the scalp that makes for way better hair growth. To use, warm the oil in your palms before working it through the roots of your hair and brushing it out toward the ends. Leave it in for 15 to 20 minutes minimum, and then shampoo it out of your hair. You can wet your hair beforehand in order to make the oil soak in better. Do note that, for some, castor oil can be difficult to work with because of its tendency to stick.
Tea Tree oil is the best oil to use if you are suffering from scalp issues or hair fall. This essential oil is considered a dream for almost all hair troubles, it can reverse hair fall as well as thinning of hair, can help you get rid of those pesky flakes on your shoulder, and make your hair thicker. Always remember, tea tree oil is extremely concentrated and may irritate the skin, so do not apply it directly onto your scalp. Instead, use it with a carrier oil like coconut oil, or with shampoo.
Onion oil is a proven remedy to boost hair regrowth and prevent hair fall. This is a widely used Ayurvedic solution to ensure healthy and thick hair. Rich in sulfur which prevents breakage, split ends, and thinning of hair, Onion juice also ensures that your hair is well nourished, and due to the presence of sulfur, the quality of hair follicles is also improved. Regular use of onion oil in your crown area will effectively promote hair regrowth in that area and also will prevent any bacterial infections or dandruff.
Argan oil works its magic on the hair in a number of ways. It’s rich in beneficial ingredients, including fatty acids and Vitamin E that make it a great ingredient to use on the hair. Argan oil works wonders on frizzy hair, promoting shine and strength. This oil should be your go-to if you have damaged your hair due to heating and styling tools. Thanks to its rich antioxidant properties it helps to prevent future damage, splitting, and breakage. Try to use argan oil-infused shampoo and conditioners, or apply it evenly on your hair for 30 minutes and then rinse it off.
Grapeseed oil is extracted from grape seeds, which are rich in nutrients and antioxidants that are important for healthy hair growth. It can be used as a leave-in conditioner as it does not make your scalp and hair greasy. It is a great one to promote hair growth, hydrate your dead ends, and strengthen hair follicles. Apply 1 small cup of grape seed oil directly into your scalp roots and hair tips, especially in the damaged parts. Massage your scalp and hair for 5-10 minutes. Cover your hair with a hot towel. Leave your hair with grapeseed oil for half an hour before washing your hair using a mild shampoo. Do it twice or thrice a week, half an hour before the hair wash.
