India is truly shining bright on the global map as it won big at the 95th Academy Awards. While ‘Naatu Naatu’ from ‘RRR’ won the ‘Best Original Song’, producer Guneet Monga’s ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ brought home an Oscar in the ‘Best Documentary Short Film’ category.
Guneet along with director Kartiki Gonsalves were there on the Oscar stage to receive the honor. An emotional Guneet has thanked everyone while holding her Oscar and dedicated it to 4 billion Indians. The producer said, “Tonight is historic. This is the first Oscar for any Indian production and two women here won this! 1.4 billion Indians, this is for you. We’ve all manifested this together.”
She further added, “I just want to say to all the women watching this that the future is audacious, the future is us and the future is here! Jai Hind”

In her acceptance speech, Kartiki said, “I stand here today to speak for the sacred bond between us and our natural world, for the respect of indigenous communities, and empathy towards other living beings we share space with and finally, for coexistence,” Gonsalves said in her acceptance speech.”

The other nominees were in this category were, ‘Haulout’, ‘How Do You Measure a Year?’, ‘The Martha Mitchell Effect’ and ‘Stranger at the Gate’.
