IFFI to honour Bond star Sean Connery – Times of India

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has organised a retrospective on Sean Connery, which will give cinephiles an opportunity to watch some of his films in Goa from November 20-28. The five films that have been selected for the retrospective are – From Russia With Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964),
Untouchables (1987), You Only Live Twice (1967), The Hunt For Red October (1990).

Sources say, “This year, IFFI is paying a special tribute to Sir Sean Connery. The original on-screen Bond passed away last year, so we thought why not curate a retrospective on his films to pay tribute to him. These films demonstrate how great an actor he was. Sean Connery will always be remembered as the original James Bond. The shots in Goldfinger and when he says ‘The name is Bond…James Bond’, all those cine moments has been etched in the minds of cinephiles forever. In fact, he was the actor who has connected generations with his films. Even today, you can find a youngster who is as big a fan of No Time To Die as of Goldfinger, and that’s why we thought we must include his films at the film festival. In 2017, when we curated a special section on the James Bond franchise, we received a great response. We believe that his films will receive the same love this year too.”
